Multimeter use how to test TRIAC with Digital multimeter Analog multimeter
TRIAC TESTING Triac has 3 legs , T1 T2 G and some datasheet named as A1 A2 G and some datasheet named as MT1 MT2 G. You can use analog multimeter or digital multimeter to test good Triac or bad Triac. This article will explain the step to test.
HOW TO TEST TRIAC
Step to test Triac with Digital multimeter.
1. Take triac part number to check with datasheet and find pin function.
2. Set digital multimeter to resistanc test function.
3. Test T1 and T2 leg then switch test leads and do testing again.
Good triac will show "OL" 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
Bad triac will show some resistance .
Test T1 and T2 leg , good triac show "OL" 2 time.
Test T1 and T2 leg , good triac show "OL" 2 time.
Good triac will show some resistance 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
The resistance value is closest together for the both measurement.
Bad triac ( shorted ) will show 0 ohm 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
Bad triac ( open ) will show OL ohm 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
Test G and T1 leg , there is some low resistance for good triac
Test G and T1 leg , there is some low resistance which closest to the first testing
5. Test G and T2 leg then switch the test leads and do testing again.
Good triac will show "OL" 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
Bad triac ( shorted ) will show 0 ohm 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
Step to test Triac with Analog multimeter.
1. Take triac part number to check with datasheet and find pin function.
2. Set analog multimeter to resistanc test function Rx10
3. Test T1 and T2 leg then switch test leads and do testing again.
Good triac will show very very high resistance 2 time , for the first and the second measurement ,
the pointer of multimeter point at ∞ scale.
Bad triac will show some resistance .
4. Test G and T1 leg then switch the test leads and do testing again.
Good triac will show some low resistance 2 time , for the first and the second measurement ,
the resistance value is closest each together.
Bad triac ( shorted ) will show 0 ohm 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
Bad triac ( open ) the pointer point at ∞ 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
Test G and T1 leg , there is some low resistance.
Test G and T1 leg , there is some low resistance , closest to the firs testing.
5. Test G and T2 leg then switch the test leads and do testing again.
Good triac the pointer will point at ∞ 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
Bad triac ( shorted ) the pointer will point at 0 ohm 2 time , for the first and the second measurement.
